Virtual visits with a primary care doctor or specialist

Skip the doctor’s office waiting room and get quality care from a primary care doctor or specialist by phone, chat, or video.

Virtual care is a convenient, cost-effective way to get timely treatment for non-emergency issues without leaving home. Online care also lets you skip the lines, saving you time and lowering your risk of germ exposure.

Many plans offer virtual primary care for as low as a $0 copay. Check your plan benefits for details.

Start with your primary care doctor

Ask your doctor if they offer virtual visits. If not, you can log in to your member account and use the online provider directory to find providers who offer virtual visits. Or call the number on the back of your member ID card and we’ll help you find the virtual care you need.

BlueVirtualCare

Many Florida Blue health plans include BlueVirtualCare. When you’re not able to see your regular doctor, BlueVirtualCare provides 24/7, high-quality care with board-certified medical professionals. Skip the wait and the expense of urgent care or the ER for common conditions like allergies, bronchitis, cold and flu, migraine, and more.

Virtual visits with a mental health provider

If you’re dealing with feelings of stress, anxiety, trauma, or grief, help is available.

If you can’t visit your mental health professional in person, ask them if they offer virtual visits. If not, you can call our behavioral health care partner, Lucet,1 at 1-866-287-9569 or visit their website. They can help you locate a licensed therapist that meets your needs. They may also be able to schedule your in-person or virtual visit with a therapist.

Virtual care FAQs

There are many reasons to consider virtual care, including:

  • If your health care provider isn’t available for a same-day appointment, or they don’t offer video visits
  • When you need care outside of regular office hours
  • When you’re traveling
  • If you prefer the convenience of virtual care

Plus, virtual care can include more than just a video visit. You can upload images, message with a doctor, and even have a phone call if necessary.

Virtual care is not a replacement for emergency care, but it can be a cost-effective and timely way to receive medical attention for non-life-threatening conditions. Some virtual options include 24/7 access, but all can provide treatment for common conditions like colds, minor cuts, coughs, wheezing, sore throats, headaches, migraines, mild allergies, fever, skin rashes, anxiety, depression, and more.2

Depending on the condition, virtual doctors may diagnose and provide treatment or refer you to in-person care if needed. They may also be able to send prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice.
