Did you know that Dr. King drew from the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and his Christian faith to lead the largest nonviolent movement in the United States?

A powerful orator who moved many to seek justice and equality for those in the margins, Dr. King is the only non-president to have a national holiday dedicated in his honor and today there are over 902 streets named, 100 schools and over 50 memorials named after this beloved global leader.

This year, there are many ways you can honor his legacy of building stronger communities regardless of race or creed. Consider participating in one of the many family and community themed events across Florida that includes everything from volunteer focused events to parades.

At Florida Blue, we are proud to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his philosophy of  nonviolent social change.  His speeches and teachings inspire us daily to be patient, kind and inclusive of all. To work hard to strive to his level of kindness and wisdom.

We hope you’ll gather with others in your community and enjoy one of these events celebrating this inspiring and visionary leader.
