Make Smart Choices This Annual Election Period
Now is the time to think about your health and prescription drug plan. Medicare’s Annual Election Period (AEP) is the open enrollment window every year for people with Medicare. Starting October 15 you will be able to change your Medicare plan if needed. But you’ll need the right information to make the best choice for you.
Ignore the junk mail you’ll soon receive. Take the phone off the cradle and send the unsolicited emails you receive from other health plans straight to your “Spam” folder. You already have the information you need. Here’s how to use it:
1. In September you received a letter from Florida Blue called the “Annual Notice of Changes.” Medicare requires Florida Blue to send you this letter to help you think about your plan and understand how your plan will change next year. Read through this letter carefully to understand how your benefits will improve and how your out-of-pocket costs may change.
2. Visit a Florida Blue Center near you. In October we’ll offer member meetings where you can come and hear about the changes we’ve made to our Medicare Advantage, Supplement, and Prescription Drug Plans. You can also talk to a licensed agent about your health and prescription drug needs and what you can afford. Bring a friend or loved one with you to help you feel confident you’ve made the right choice.
3. Visit bluemedicarefl.com for information about our plans. Or, talk to a Florida Blue agent over the phone by calling 1-877-465-1125, daily between the hours of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. ET. You can make changes to your plan from October 15 to December 7.
If you have questions about your current Medicare plan, call Member Services at 1-800-926-6565. TTY users should call 1-800-955-8770. We are open from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. local time, seven days a week from October 1 - February 15, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. From February 16 - September 30, we are open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. local time.
Don’t be surprised by plan changes on January 1. You can trust Florida Blue to help you review your plan and get the answers you need to make the right choice for your coverage next year. We’re here to help!
