We’re Here for You—Now More Than Ever
While some aspects of life are beginning to shift to a “new normal,” that doesn’t mean you aren’t still feeling effects from the coronavirus. We know times may be tough, and there are lots of unique challenges we’re all facing, but we aren’t going anywhere. We’re here to answer your questions and get you the care you need.
If you purchase Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans for your coverage for you and your family (not through your job), here are some specific ways you can get extra support to help get through this health crisis.
COVID-19 has disrupted every part of our lives. For some, this includes losing a job or taking a cut in pay.
Having health coverage is more important than ever, and we understand how important it is for you to keep your coverage during this financially difficult time.
More time to pay: We’ve extended the time our members have to pay their premium through August 1, 2020. All past due amounts and July premiums are due by August 1. We’re also extending the payment time frame until August 1 for members with dental, vision or life insurance plans.
Credit card payments: To give you more ways to manage your budget, we are expanding the options and flexibility for how you pay your premiums. At the request of many members, you can now pay your premium by credit card. To make a credit card payment, members can log in to their floridablue.com or mobile app account or call 800-352-2583 and say, “Make a payment” using the automated process.
Earn money toward paying your premium with Better You Strides: If you have an individual ACA plan, you can earn big rewards. Through Better You Strides, our online health and wellness program, you can now earn up to $500 in rewards toward your premium each year. You and each covered dependent, age 18 and over, can earn up to $500. Login to your floridablue.com member account and click on Better You Strides to get started! All rewardable activities will be clearly marked with the dollar amount you can earn.
Special enrollment into a different health plan: If you’ve lost your job or had a cut in pay due to coronavirus, you may be able to get more financial help to pay your premium. We may also be able to help you find a more affordable plan that better fits your budget. If you’d like to explore your options, call your local Florida Blue agent or call us at 866-216-6977.
In addition to helping you with your premium payments, we’re also helping you get access to the care you need—often at a lower out of pocket cost.
Health care: We’re providing virtual health care visits at $0 cost share through October 31, 2020. Teladoc doctors are available 24/7, which means you can avoid the doctor’s office and other sick patients when you have a non-emergency illness likes a sinus infection, sore throat, allergies or upset stomach. And medications, except controlled substances, can be prescribed.
Please note: If you need a referral for the coronavirus test, keep in mind that you cannot get a referral for the coronavirus test through Teladoc. You must consult your local doctor by phone.
If you need help finding a doctor, you can use our online provider directory. To get there, log in to your member account at floridablue.com, then click “Tools,” then “Find a Doctor & More.” You can also call 800-352-2583 for assistance.
Urgent dental care: COVID-19 has forced many businesses to close, including dental offices. If you’re concerned about dental care, we’ve got you covered. We’ve made special arrangements to provide urgent virtual dental assistance for those who have dental coverage through Florida Blue. The visit can be done over the phone, by Skype or through FaceTime.
This service is $0 cost share and is available through October 31, 2020, so contact your dentist if you’re experiencing a dental emergency. Your dentist will provide an initial evaluation of your urgent need and then determine next steps with you.
If you have Florida Blue dental coverage and you don’t currently have a dentist, or you need help finding one, start here or call 866-216-6977 (TTY: 1-800-955-8770).
COVID-19 testing: If you’re experiencing mild to severe respiratory symptoms, including a cough and difficulty breathing, a fever, or diarrhea, consult with your doctor over the phone so they can determine next best steps. If they determine you do need to be tested, we want to make it as simple as possible for you. Through the end of the Federal Public Health Emergency, the test is $0 for all members, and we are waiving the cost share for all covered services for the treatment of those with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. There are currently no FDA-approved vaccines or medications for the outpatient treatment of COVID-19. However, if FDA-approved vaccines or medications become available, they will be covered based on your benefit plan. (Florida Blue is also working with its self-funded ASO group employers to assist them in meeting the needs of their employees during the health crisis.)
Medications: If you have a plan with prescription drug coverage, now is a good time to take advantage of your 90-day mail order benefit, so you can make sure you have your medication when you need it. We’re also waiving early medication refill limits on 30-day prescription maintenance medications.
Counseling: In partnership with New Directions Behavioral Health, you can talk to specially trained behavioral health counselors at no extra cost, even if you aren’t a member. You can speak with them 24/7 about stress you may be feeling by calling the toll-free help line at 1-833-848-1762.
As things are constantly changing, you can easily find the latest info. Check out our dedicated COVID-19 site to get the latest member resources, care options and COVID-19 information.
While it’s unclear how long the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will last, take comfort in knowing we’re doing everything we can to help you through this stressful time. We’re here for you, always.
