Celebrate 75 Years of Health in West Florida
This month Florida Blue kicks off its 75th-anniversary celebration. A lot of change since we were established in 1944, but one thing that remains the same is our commitment to helping our members and the communities we serve to improve their health.
This weekend we want to invite everyone to help us celebrate our anniversary with a free community celebration at our Florida Blue Center in Sarasota near UTC mall.
This is a time to bring together our members, their families and the community at large with festivities for all ages including a farmer’s market, tasty treats, free chair massages, health screenings and coaching, balloon and caricature artists, music, games, and giveaways.
We also invite you to join us in giving back to the community by bringing a donation of peanut butter, jelly, canned fruits, veggies or meats, rice, beans of any kind, or shelf-stable milk for All Faiths Food Bank. Everyone who brings a donation will be entered in a drawing to win a FitBit. The Suncoast Blood Bank will also be on hand providing you the opportunity to give the gift if life with a blood donation.

We are only able to celebrate 75 years in the community because of the support of our members—now 5 million strong. Saturday’s community celebration is not only a display of our gratitude but also an opportunity for us to renew our commitment to helping people and communities achieve better health. As we look to the next 75 years, we will continue to drive innovation and collaboration to find more ways to personalize health care, ensure all Floridians have access to affordable health care and improve the health of our communities.

David Pizzo is Florida Blue’s Market President for West Florida. He is responsible for operations and local engagement in 14 counties ranging from Pasco and Hernando counties to Tampa Bay to Southwest Florida. Throughout his career, he has actively supported education including serving on the University of South Florida President’s Council Society and Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, St. Leo University College of Business Advisory Board; USF Muma College of Business Advisory Board and Eckerd College President’s Associates. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in pharmacy from Rutgers University and a Master’s of Business Administration in marketing and international business from NYU’s Stern Business School.
