Calling all seniors! Wednesday, May 29, 2019, is National Senior Health and Fitness Day, and some of our Florida Blue Centers are getting in on the fun.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day is a nationwide event that promotes the importance of physical activity in older adults. It’s held every year in May, during Older American’s Month. Local organizations across the nation are encouraged to take part. That’s where our Florida Blue Centers come in!

This is your chance to join in on the largest annual health and wellness event for seniors in America! Be sure to stop by one of these Florida Blue Centers to join us in celebrating National Senior Health and Fitness Day:

Florida Blue Center Westshore:

12-1 p.m.                      Lunch and Learn: Better You "Walking for Your Health" (Lunch provided)

1:30-2:30 p.m.              SilverSneakers presentation and demo

3-3:30 p.m.                   Center tour

5:30-6:30 p.m.              Tai Chi

Florida Blue Center Carrollwood:

10:30-11:30 a.m.           SilverSneakers presentation and demo

11:30 a.m. -12 p.m.       Center tour

12-1 p.m.                       Lunch and Learn: Better You “Walking for Your Health” (Lunch provided)

5:30-6:30 p.m.              Yoga

Florida Blue Center Pinellas Park:

Not able to make it to one of our participating centers? There are many ways to get active on your own time!

  • Walk it out: Walking around your neighborhood is an easy way to stay active without having to travel far. Grab a friend and get walking!
  • A day at the park: Check out your local park or nature center. Plan a day filled with trail walking, biking and picnicking.
  • Attend a fitness class: Visit your local community center or gym to find a fitness class. Whether its dance, tai chi, yoga or swimming, there is sure to be a class that interests you. Check with your local YMCA to see if they are participating in National Senior Health and Fitness Day.
  • Volunteer: Volunteering is an easy way to spread health and wellness to those around you. Volunteer at health fairs, community centers or food pantries.
