Jacksonville, Fla. - September 4, 2019

Pat Geraghty, President and CEO of Florida Blue, the leading health insurer in Florida, today announced that the company will donate $150,000 to support relief and recovery efforts along the Florida coast and in the Bahamas in the wake of Hurricane Dorian.

“While we feel extremely fortunate that the path of Hurricane Dorian spared the majority of the state, the devastation felt by our friends in the Bahamas will impact that area for years to come,” Geraghty said. “We offer our support to those in the Bahamas and those in the coastal areas of Florida that have been impacted by this storm. Driven by our mission of helping people and communities achieve better health, the Florida Blue employees stand ready to help those in need.”

Florida Blue’s relief funds will be focused on areas that have been hardest hit by the storm. The company intends to contribute $100,000 to United Way of Miami-Dade for its Operation Helping Hands to support Bahamas relief. The company also will contribute $50,000 to American Red Cross for its Hurricane Dorian Fund.
