Jacksonville, Fla. - November 16, 2012

Florida Blue, Florida’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield Company, has signed a new Medicare Advantage PPO network agreement with Baptist Health in Northeast Florida.

With this expanded agreement, BlueMedicare Regional PPO members in Northeast Florida can take advantage of Baptist Health’s regionally renowned health care services. The agreement took effect on Nov. 1, 2012.

“We are truly excited to welcome Baptist Health and its hospitals into our Medicare Advantage network,” said Elizabeth Strombom, vice president, Medicare Solutions, Florida Blue. “With this expanded agreement, our members can take advantage of their quality service and care. We are especially delighted that this agreement included our zero-premium Medicare Advantage PPO plan.”

With the new contract, all Baptist Health facilities are now part of BlueMedicare Regional PPO network, which include Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Baptist Heart Hospital, Baptist Medical Center Beaches, Baptist Medical Center Nassau, Baptist Medical Center South and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.

Baptist Health and Florida Blue have enjoyed a contractual relationship for nearly 25 years. With this agreement, Baptist Health is a network provider for the following product lines:

  • BlueCare® (Health Options)
  • BlueChoice® (PPC)
  • BlueOptionsSM (NetworkBlue)
  • BlueMedicareSM PPO
  • Advantage65
  • Traditional Indemnity plans
