Rita’s journey started with one step. “I was diagnosed with diabetes and I was on a downward spiral,” Rita recalled.
As part of what she learned through her Florida Blue Center’s pre-diabetes program, Rita began to incorporate exercise and healthy eating habits into her life. “I used running to find myself. Before I knew it, I was up to 40-50 miles a week.”
That’s how one step became 10,000 steps and one choice became a lifestyle. “Shedding all the weight, all the bad habits, it’s just been amazing. I love being the healthiest version of myself that I can be.”
