We’re proud to be a leader in improving the health and well-being of our Florida communities. Below is a sampling of the organizations we’re partnering with to make a healthy difference:
Miami HEAT Academy
Through our partnership with the Miami HEAT, the HEAT Academy provides resources for a variety of programs that serve at-risk youth in our community. The Academy provides economically disadvantaged students with after-school programs that focus on reading, writing, science and math enrichment that prepare them for the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) and future academic achievement.
The Florida Health Literacy Grant Initiative
The Florida Health Literacy Grant Initiative, funded by the Florida Blue Foundation and operated by the Florida Literacy Coalition (FLC), provides statewide emphasis on health literacy and seeks to address the health literacy disparities present in many adult English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learners. The cornerstone of this statewide initiative is a mini-grant program that provides training, resources and funding to assist Florida ESOL and family literacy programs integrate health education into their instruction to teach students English language and literacy skills necessary to enable adult learners and their families to access and navigate the health care system.
United Way of Northeast Florida
The United Way of Northeast Florida’s programs create positive, sustainable change by keeping students on track to graduation, helping families achieve financial stability, and providing tools to lead a healthy and engaged life. Through partnership with the Florida Blue Foundation and other agencies in Northeast Florida and with the help of teams of volunteers, the United Way of Northeast Florida’s Community Impact program advances the common good by focusing on education, income and health – the building blocks to a quality of life.
