David Pizzo is Florida Blue’s Market President for West Florida. He is responsible for operations and local engagement in 14 counties ranging from Pasco and Hernando counties to Tampa Bay to Southwest Florida. Throughout his career, he has actively supported education including serving on the University of South Florida President’s Council Society and Center for Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, St. Leo University College of Business Advisory Board; USF Muma College of Business Advisory Board and Eckerd College President’s Associates. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in pharmacy from Rutgers University and a Master’s of Business Administration in marketing and international business from NYU’s Stern Business School.

Darnell Smith
Darnell Smith is North Florida Market President for Florida Blue, a leader in the state’s health industry. In his role, Smith is responsible for Florida Blue’s business market growth, as well as customer and community engagement across 36 North Florida counties covering cities from St. Augustine to Pensacola. He is the immediate past chair of the JAX Chamber. Throughout his career, Smith has been very active in serving the community through numerous organization boards and councils including Communities in Schools Florida, United Way of Northeast Florida, First Coast YMCA, Sulzbacher Center, Cathedral Arts Project and Feeding Northeast Florida. Smith has served on numerous boards including Economic Development Council of Tallahassee, JAXUSA Policy Council and Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce ,and has chaired the Heart Walk for the American Heart Association for Northeast Florida, the Host Committee for Episcopal Children’s Services and has served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Blue Foundation, Florida Blue’s philanthropic affiliate. Smith is an active member of Leadership Jacksonville and Leadership Florida.

Penny Shaffer
Penny Shaffer is the South Florida Market President for Florida Blue, a leader in the state’s health industry. In this role, she leads the company’s regional plan for growing the business and the brand, as well as community, stakeholder and employee engagement. Penny is the recipient of numerous awards in health care and civic leadership, most recently the Power Leader of the Year from the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Claude Pepper Award in Healthcare from United Homecare. She leads and is active with a number of area non-profit and civic groups and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami.

Pat Geraghty
Patrick “Pat” Geraghty is president and chief executive officer (CEO) of GuideWell Mutual Holding Corporation, Florida Blue and GuideWell Group, Inc. GuideWell is a mutual insurance holding company and is a family of forward-thinking companies focused on transforming health care. The holding company includes Florida Blue, GuideWell Connect, GuideWell Health, GuideWell Source and PopHealthCare.
Geraghty is active in leading professional and community organizations. He serves as the chair of the Florida Council of 100, a private, non-profit, non-partisan organization of Florida business leaders who advise the state’s governor on how to improve the economic growth of the state and the economic well-being of its residents. He also serves as a member of the board of the National Institute of Health Care Management (NIHCM), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the effectiveness, efficiency and quality of America’s health care system. Additionally, Geraghty is a member of the Oliver Wyman Innovation Center Advisory Board and serves on the boards of Pardee Rand Graduate School, America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and Tampa Electric Co. (TECO).In 2016 Geraghty became a member of the Health Governors Community of the World Economic Forum, the international organization for public-private cooperation, and a trustee for its Global Challenge Initiative on The Future of Health.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University and has completed executive education programs at Harvard University School of Public Health and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
